Success! After two very successful rides, daytime one held on July 5th and the nighttime one on August 2nd. My Friend Daniel Lafleur and I (Scott RedCloud) hosted for our first time, The World Naked Bike Ride! I was really not sure how successful it was going to be considering how very few showed up the past 3 to 4 years. Usually around 20-40 people. This year we had about 200-250 people!
We took over the event at the very last minute just weeks before the daytime event was held because police were not getting the event information from the previous organizer, Paul. That is when Daniel and I decided to do the event. The riders in the Facebook group were also tired of waiting on Paul; when we were able to talk to Paul at the daytime event, he thanked us for taking over because he did not have the time to do it anymore.
The Daytime and the nighttime event was so successful, we did not think we would get so many riders as compared to the past years this event has been taking place here in Montreal! I’d also like to thank the media for the coverage of our event. Global News, CTV, The Montreal Gazette, Jillian Page, MTLBlog, Virgin Radio, The Beat of Montreal, Le Journal de Montréal and others. Thank you very much! I’d also like to thank everyone who came to the event, including the Unicycle group that happen to be in Montreal from Vancouver and Winnepeg that were here for a tournament. when they heard that the WNBR was happening, they messaged us to find out when it was and showed up with a big roaring cheer! The Uni-cyclists gave us some fun entertainment with tricks and stunts; it was very nice to watch them! Come back again next year you guys if you are in the area again!
We had a great year this year and I hope to see you all again next year! More ass, less gas!!
